Senior UI/UX Designer Location: Sydney, NSW

Employment: Full time, permanent

Work arrangement: On site, five days per week About the role KazGard designs and delivers digital products across AI enabled SaaS, enterprise compliance, education, robotics and social impact. We are seeking a senior designer who can move confidently between technical, commercial and community environments. This is a hands on UI/UX and product design role leading complex software and selected hardware and software projects.

You will work directly with executives, engineers, educators, corporate clients, startups, Aboriginal organisations, community organisations and international partners. The role is based in Sydney and requires on site work five days per week. Applicants must be based in Sydney or able to relocate before commencing.

What you will do • Lead discovery, research, requirements, information architecture, prototyping, usability testing, interface design, design systems and implementation review.

- Translate executive priorities, user evidence and engineering constraints into clear product hypotheses, requirements and decisions.
- Shape AI enabled products, including machine learning use cases, model outputs, confidence and explanation states, human review, errors and fallback experiences.
- Define product side API requirements covering data flows, authentication, permissions, endpoint behaviour, data contracts, loading and error states, documentation and integration testing.
- Build functional prototypes using Figma, Cursor, Codex and code where practical, and contribute to applied R&D; involving robotics, sensors, connected devices or physical interfaces.
- Lead mixed method research and evaluation, including interviews, co design, heuristic evaluations, cognitive walkthroughs, accessibility reviews and usability testing.
- Analyse qualitative and quantitative evidence using R/RStudio, tidyverse, ggplot2, spreadsheets and product analytics,

then turn findings into clear recommendations.
- Apply WCAG 2.2 and relevant W3C guidance, including cognitive accessibility and assistive technology considerations. Use systemic design and ecodesign to consider wider social, environmental and operational impact.
- Work effectively across corporate, regulated and community settings, respecting cultural authority, governance, consent and local capacity.

What we are looking for • At least four years of professional experience in UX/UI, product or interaction design, with a strong portfolio of complex, shipped or zero to one work.

- Postgraduate study in interaction design, UX, HCI, digital design, systemic design, ecodesign or a related field, or equivalent senior professional experience.
- Strong end to end design capability across research, systems and service mapping, prototyping, UI, design systems, testing and delivery.
- Strong conceptual and systems thinking, with the ability to translate abstract, complex or emerging ideas into clear and testable product or service concepts.
- Practical AI and machine learning product experience, with enough depth to discuss model behaviour, data, evaluation, uncertainty, bias, privacy and human oversight with technical teams.
- Advanced Figma and Miro skills, experience with Cursor, Codex or comparable tools, and product knowledge of REST or GraphQL APIs, JSON, authentication, permissions, webhooks and integration testing.
- Experience with R/RStudio and ggplot2, or comparable reproducible tools, together with heuristic evaluation, mixed method research and usability testing.

- Demonstrated application of WCAG in live products. Participation in W3C or another recognised international accessibility or standards body is highly regarded.
- Exposure to hardware prototyping, robotics, IoT, connected products or other emerging technology environments.
- Experience working directly with CEOs and engineers, while building trusted relationships with Aboriginal organisations or community based organisations.
- Startup experience, or experience taking a product, programme or community initiative from concept through validation, partnerships, launch or measurable growth. Founder or co founder experience is highly regarded.
- Professional fluency in English.

Experience across European markets, multilingual environments or international stakeholder groups is highly regarded.

Additional

European language skills are an advantage.

- Evidence of measurable product, social, educational, cultural or environmental outcomes, with a clear account of personal contribution.

How to apply Submit your CV, portfolio and a cover letter of no more than 700 words addressing the following four areas: 1. A project where your design work created measurable social or community impact.

- A project involving machine learning, data analysis, APIs or a hardware and software prototype.
- A situation where executive objectives, user evidence and engineering constraints conflicted, and how you resolved it.
- A startup, programme or community initiative you initiated or helped build, including validation, partnerships, international delivery and measurable impact. For each example, state your role, baseline, result, timeframe or sample, data source and personal contribution. Team metrics are welcome when clearly identified. KazGard welcomes applications from suitably qualified candidates and can provide reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process.
