Canberra ACT | TSPV Required | Defence Intelligence / GEOINT Program | 12-Month Contract + Extensions
Hays is partnering with a Defence consultancy supporting a Defence Intelligence program within the Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation. We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the design, development and delivery of secure software solutions for a major GEOINT mission system.
This role will contribute to the GEOINT Platform, an enhanced capability providing Defence and the National Intelligence Community with consistent access to geospatial intelligence. The successful candidate will work across multiple projects, designing and developing reliable, scalable, secure and integrated applications in line with Defence security frameworks and software engineering best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain software applications, systems and components using approved programming languages, frameworks and tools.
- Analyse business and technical requirements to develop effective and efficient software solutions.
- Participate in code reviews to improve code quality and share knowledge across the team.
- Work with project managers, product owners, business analysts, senior customers and other engineers to design, plan, estimate and deliver software solutions.
- Maintain and enhance existing software by identifying improvement opportunities, refactoring code and resolving defects.
- Ensure applications meet security,
performance and scalability requirements.
- Contribute to system architecture and technical design discussions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including timely fixes and root-cause analysis.
- Ensure developed solutions align with project architecture guidance, Defence policy and Information Security Manual guidance.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation relating to systems, code and development processes.
Required Experience
- Robust software engineering experience across secure, complex or mission-critical environments.
- Experience designing and developing large or complex software components in line with agreed standards and principles.
- Ability to evaluate design options, assess risks and make technical recommendations
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including project managers, product owners, business analysts, senior stakeholders and engineers.
- Strong understanding of secure software development, system design, maintainability and scalability
- Ability to work in a high-security environment with sensitivity, reticence and discretion.
- Applicants must hold a current TSPV clearance, or have held TSPV within the previous 12-month period. Candidates with a current Defence Intelligence Agency-recognised Psychological Assessment are preferred.
