The Opportunity
As a Senior Tax Consultant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality tax advisory work across a diverse client base. You will be advising on a range of tax matters including Income tax, GST and FBT.
As part of our tax advisory team, you will work alongside our two highly experienced Tax Directors. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth of our tax service offerings while gaining broad exposure to complex tax issues.
This role is well suited to an experienced tax professional who enjoys working across many different areas of tax and who has a strong commercial acumen, good attention to detail, analytical and shows initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide trusted tax advisory support to clients and to the broader firm.
- Deliver income tax-focused advisory work across a range of areas, such as business/group restructures, mergers and acquisitions, employee share schemes and international expansion.
- Consider key income tax issues such as capital gains tax rollovers,
tax consolidation, tax loss utilisation and Division 7A.
- Support ATO reviews, audits, objections, early engagements and ruling applications through preparation of technical responses and documentation.
- Undertake technical tax research to support tax positions and decision making.
- Be involved in the delivery of tax risk management and governance frameworks for businesses & groups.
- Undertake tax due diligences as part of the firm’s Corporate Finance offering.
- Ensure high-quality, accurate, and timely delivery of all client work.
- Collaborate with managers and senior leaders to deliver integrated client outcomes.
About You
You are an experienced tax professional with strong technical expertise and a proactive, solutions-focused approach. You enjoy working collaboratively while also having the ability to operate independently, managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance and/or Bachelor of Law.
- Post-Grad qualifications beneficial but not essential - CA/CPA, LLB, Masters of Tax and/or CTA.
- 3+ years’ tax experience.
- Experience in various areas such as CGT Restructuring; corporate and/or trust taxation; and Division 7A.
- Strong background in private and/or corporate tax.
- Experience in using tax research tools such as CCH, ATO Legal Database.
- Strong research, analytical, organisational and communication skills.
- Experience with delivering tax advisory focused engagements for a broad range of clients.
- Ability to stay up to date with tax legislation, ATO guidance and relevant case law.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with a client-centric approach and an ability to successfully lead client engagement and relationships.
- Excellent communicator and willingness to work collaboratively in teams.
