The Northern Territory Government manages 85 parks and reserves, all of which are important to the Territory’s environment, culture, society and future. They play an important role in the conservation of the Territory’s biodiversity and are integral to the cultural identity and way of life for many Aboriginal people. Recreational activities offered to visitors including swimming, sightseeing, day and multiday walking trails and the more adventurous activities such as mountain biking, fishing, camping, boating and 4WD experiences.

As a Senior District Ranger (T4R) your focus will be to support the Chief District Ranger and District Manager to manage a team to develop and deliver land management, nature conservation, visitor activities and facilities management to support the delivery of targeted, high quality park management outcomes for parks within your district; and provide support for Aboriginal and other stakeholder partnerships.





Two current vacancy exists with Central Australian Parks: and Watarrka National Park and with Savannah Gulf Parks: Gulf District. Please note - an order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future T4R Senior District Ranger vacancies over the next 12 months, including at other locations within the NT. Please contact Parks and Wildlife to enquire about potential locations.

To be successful, you require demonstrated, significant experience in a field of technical work closely related to the duties of the vacancy, or a relevant qualification awarded by an Australian institution, or equivalent. Well-developed communication skills and the ability interact positively with staff, joint management partners, visitors and volunteers is a key component of the job, together with a solid understanding of protected area management.

- Competitive salary package inclusive of 11.5% superannuation, up to 7 weeks recreational and 3 weeks personal leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, remote locality allowance and assistance with relocation. Most positions also offer subsidised housing.
