Gameology is a proudly Australian gaming retailer dedicated to bringing incredible tabletop and trading card game experiences to our community. With the launch of our exciting new Box Hill store, we're growing our team and looking for a passionate, driven leader to help us deliver an unbeatable in-store experience.

About the Role

As Store Manager, you'll take full ownership of the Box Hill store — driving sales performance, building a high-performing team, and creating an outstanding customer experience. You'll manage everything from stock and cash flow to staff training and events, while working closely with senior management to hit targets and grow the store's presence in the local gaming community. This is a genuine leadership opportunity for someone who wants to build something from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sale

- Maximise profitability by setting and exceeding achievable sales targets.

- Ensure customers are provided with excellent service at all times by upholding Gameology Service Standards (the 3E’s).

- Ensure escalated inquiries, including those referred by the Assistant Store Manager,



are dealt with quickly and professionally to achieve excellent customer retention.

- Oversee cash flow management, including final responsibility for sales reconciliation.

- Engage in visual merchandising and oversee in-store promotional displays.

- Build customer retention through oversight of the loyalty program, Gameology e-newsletter and promotional activity.

Retail Operations & Inventory Management

- Maintain high stock accuracy across the store, including conducting and overseeing regular stocktakes.

- Monitor stock release dates to ensure embargo dates are not breached.

- Organise and maintain the Click & Collect order backlog.

- Order stock directly to store to ensure the location is consistently stocked with sellable product.

- Oversee store opening and closing procedures, including final sign-off on sales reconciliation.

- Ensure the in-store environment remains clean, tidy and hygienic.

Team Leadership & Training

- Lead staff to success by developing procedure and engaging in regular training, including upselling techniques.

- Schedule daily tasks and rosters in advance for the in-store team.

- Maintain a pleasant working environment by connecting with staff and managing expectations in line with company requirements.

- Ensure all staff, including the Assistant Store Manager, are equipped to handle escalated inquiries where necessary.

- Oversee onboarding and training for new and existing staff, including the Assistant Store Manager’s delivery of this process.





- Conduct team and individual performance reviews and disciplinary action where necessary, incorporating feedback from the Assistant Store Manager.

Events & Promotions

- Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to establish and build weekly gaming events.

- Prepare promotional materials and displays as necessary.

- Drive sales by planning product orders in line with events.

- Train staff to effectively run events and maximise sales.

- Oversee the planning and execution of trading card game events, tournaments and release parties.

Brand, Communication & Reporting

- Ensure the Gameology brand values and voice are upheld and consistent throughout every customer interaction.

- Compile team performance reports for senior management to assist in forecast planning.

- Monitor task management programs and emails regularly to ensure inquiries and issues are resolved efficiently and effectively.

- Communicate directly with senior management to ensure set goals are achievable by deadline.

- Liaise with other departments to optimise processes and ensure customers and staff receive accurate and timely information and resolutions.

What We're Looking For:

- 2-3 years experience in hospitality and/or retail sectors highly regarded

- Management/2IC experience required

- Strong verbal communication skills, including an excellent ability to problem-solve

- Previous experience using workflow management programs (Slack, Asana preferred) highly regarded

- Strong attention to detail

- Ability to work in a target-driven, fast-paced environment

- Excellent time management skills and initiative

- Board game or TCG knowledge essential
