Night Security & Reception Officer – MOM Darwin Hostel

Join the team at MOM Darwin, one of the Northern Territory’s largest and most vibrant hostels, as our Nightshift Security & Receptionist role during over our busy dry season!

This is not a traditional night receptionist position . The primary focus of the role is maintaining the safety and security of the hostel and its guests throughout the night.

The successful applicant will be required to:

Conduct regular patrols throughout the building and grounds.

Monitor guest activity and respond to security concerns.

Enforce hostel policies and house rules in a professional and confident manner.

Handle difficult situations, including disruptive or intoxicated guests, when required.

Remain alert throughout the shift, as the role requires constant monitoring, proactive decision-making, and a visible security presence.

Complete after‑hours check-ins, manage overnight front desk operations, and perform general cleaning duties when required.

Skills & Experience:

Previous experience in a night shift role is essential.

Experience within the accommodation, hotel, hostel, or hospitality sector is highly advantageous.

Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.





Proficient in using computer‑based booking and property management systems. Experience with MEWS and electronic key/access control systems is highly regarded.

Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and remain calm under pressure during overnight operations.

Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
