Summer Internship Program | Early careers - NAB NAB Summer Intern Program Kickstart a career at NAB with our summer internship. Our summer internship is for undergraduate and postgraduate students in their second last year of study. It’s an eight-week paid program run over the university summer break.
Please note that the program includes a two-week unpaid break over the festive season between Monday 21 December until Friday 1 January 2027. You’ll discover what it’s like to learn and work at one of Australia’s largest and most successful financial institutions. You’ll not only gain insights into the banking and finance industry, but you’ll be provided with career coaching to help you figure out what you want from your career and how to achieve it.
Our program focusses on employability and future skills development that will compliment your study and set you up for future career success. At the end of the program, you’ll have the opportunity to be considered for an early offer into our Graduate Program the following year.

Business Banking
We’re passionate about providing specialised financial products, market insights and advice to help our customers thrive across different industries. We have a focus on small to medium business. You’ll learn about building relationships with customers to help them achieve their goals.
This program stream is offered in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane. Digital, Data & AI Digital, Data and AI sits at the centre of how NAB shapes better experiences for customers and colleagues. Bringing together Digital, Design, Data, Analytics and AI, our teams work collaboratively to deliver smarter, simpler banking.
This program stream is offered in Melbourne. Corporate and Institutional Banking We finance corporate growth, provide specialised financing solutions and create value through working capital and global transactions. You’ll work with industry specialists to provide solutions for our customers in their relevant markets.
This program stream is offered in Melbourne and Sydney. Finance and Strategy Our Finance Team partner with the business to deliver accurate management and financial accounting outputs. We provide specialist advice and insights by leveraging data and technology to support strategic decision creating value for our colleagues, customers and shareholders.
Our team is responsible for NAB Group’s finance activities and investor relations through assisting in the preparation of reports, transforming complex financial and non-financial data, and ensuring effective controls are operating in line with policy requirements.

We focus on making our HR services straightforward and easy for our people to do their jobs and serve customers well. We provide great data and insights to help our leaders make sustainable workforce decisions. This program stream is offered in Melbourne and Sydney.
Personal Banking

Wealth is an integrated team of specialists in banking, investments and advice from NAB Private Wealth , JBWere and nabtrade . We’re responsible for the seamless delivery of tailored banking, wealth and investment solutions to meet our client’s unique needs and ambitions, wherever they are in their lifecycle. This program stream is offered in Melbourne and Sydney.
Risk Risk management is vital at NAB to protect our customers and enable sustainable performance for the NAB group. Maintaining a strong risk governance and framework originates at board level and flows down through the organisation. You’ll discover how we provide strategic enterprise-wide risk review and advice on various types of risk at NAB using policy, data and analytics.

Eligibility for our Summer Intern Program You’ll need to make sure you meet the following requirements. Citizenship and visa requirements You’ll need to be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or be an Australian or permanent resident at the time of applying for the program. Tertiary education requirements You’ll need to be in your second last year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree and due to complete your degree by December 2027.
Availability requirements You’ll need to be available to commence full-time employment from 23 November 2026 to 29 January 2027 (including a two-week unpaid break over the festive season). Application and selection process Your first step is to complete the application form. This is where you’ll get the chance to tell us about yourself and nominate your chosen business area.
You’ll also need to upload your academic transcript. If you’re successful, you’ll progress to an online assessment, video interview and finally an engagement centre. Engagement centres are held by business area.
