Australian Airport Services (AAS) was established in Cairns in 2003. Since then, we've expanded to Townsville, Darwin and Canberra, delivering Ground Support Equipment (GSE) maintenance, repairs and operational support to airports across Australia.
We work with major airlines and ground handlers to keep their equipment operating safely and reliably.
About the Role
As our Darwin Workshop / Port Supervisor, you'll lead the day-to-day operations of the workshop while remaining hands-on with maintenance and repairs. You'll support your team, coordinate workflow and ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard.
This is a practical leadership role for someone who enjoys leading by example.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the daily operations of the Darwin workshop.
- Perform servicing, maintenance and repairs on Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
- Allocate work and provide technical support to technicians.
- Fault Finding on Ground Support Equipment.
- Mentor apprentices and support team development.
- Ensure maintenance is completed safely and to a high standard.
- Liaise with customers and coordinate workshop priorities.
- Complete and review job cards and maintenance records.
- Promote a positive safety culture and support continuous improvement.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- A trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic or equivalent mechanical trade.
- Previous leadership, supervisory or leading hand experience.
- Solid diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Experience working on heavy vehicles, plant or Ground Support Equipment (GSE) is highly regarded.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A commitment to safety and quality.
- The ability to lead by example and support your team.
- A current driver's licence (HR licence desirable).
- Good computer skills, including Google Workspace (experience with maintenance management software is advantageous but not essential).
