About the Role Support workers help people with disability and older Australians live as independently as possible, staying connected to their communities and doing the things that matter to them. The role involves personal care (showering, dressing, grooming), meal preparation and medication reminders, supporting participants to go into the community for shopping, appointments, recreational activities, or social visits, providing companionship and being a consistent, reliable presence. Depending on the participant’s needs, support workers may engage in high‑intensity support for participants with complex needs or lower‑intensity support for those who mainly need assistance attending appointments.

Follow the participant’s support plan carefully. Plans outline agreed goals, routines, and any specific requirements for how support should be delivered. Documentation, including shift notes and incident reports when relevant, is part of the job.

Who you would support Most support workers work with NDIS participants, though some also work in aged care settings. Participants may have physical disability, intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, acquired brain injury, mental health conditions, or a combination of these. Every person has their own personality, preferences, and goals, and the best support workers take the time to understand who they are supporting rather than just following a checklist.





Pay and Working Arrangements Pay is set by the relevant industrial award and the NDIS Price Guide, varying by time of day, day of the week, and level of support required. Rates are agreed directly between the worker and the provider who contacts you; Carevo does not set or guarantee pay.

Required Qualifications &

Skills - Genuine commitment to person‑centred support and participant independence - Positive communication skills across a range of communication styles and needs - Ability to follow support plans, care routines, and safety protocols accurately - Reliable vehicle and current driver’s licence - Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and some public holidays - Previous experience in disability support or aged care (valued but not always required) - Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, or a related field (valued) - Calm, consistent approach when working with people who have complex or challenging support needs Checks and Credentials Necessary checks and credentials include:

- NDIS Worker Screening Check (valid 5 years, 4‑8 weeks processing) - Police Check (valid 3 years, issued within days) - CPR and First Aid (valid 3 years, 1‑day course) - Vehicle endorsement or transport documentation (if required) - Driver’s licence renewal (must remain current)
