About The Role
As Sustainability Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the development, coordination and delivery of sustainability initiatives that improve the City's environmental performance and organisational sustainability outcomes. Working within the Sustainability and Environment team, you will contribute to projects, policies, strategies and programs that drive climate action, resource efficiency and continuous improvement. You will also provide sustainability advice, analyse and report on performance data, assist with grant opportunities, and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders to support positive environmental outcomes for the organisation and community.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support the planning, coordination and delivery of sustainability initiatives, projects and programs that improve environmental and organisational sustainability outcomes.
- Collect, analyse and report on sustainability performance data to inform decision-making, identify opportunities for improvement, and track progress against organisational goals.
- Assist in the development, implementation and review of sustainability strategies, policies, plans and action programs.
- Identify grant funding opportunities and contribute to grant applications and the administration of funded projects.
- Engage with staff, community members, government agencies, consultants and other stakeholders through workshops, training, education programs and team-oriented projects.
What We're Looking For
- A tertiary qualification in sustainability, environmental management, environmental science, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience supporting sustainability or environmental projects, preferably within local government or a similarly complex organisation.
- Strong analytical skills with experience collecting, interpreting and reporting data to support informed decision-making.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across a diverse range of audiences.
- A collaborative and proactive approach, with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Current C Class Driver's Licence and a current National Police Clearance (no more than six months old).
