Copper Busbar Bending, Fabrication & Switchboard Assembly

ARC Switchboards is looking for an experienced Switchboard Electrician / Busbar Fabricator to join our Wangara workshop.

This is a hands-on workshop role suited to someone with genuine experience in switchboard manufacturing, with a solid focus on copper busbar fabrication, bending, drilling, punching, installation and final assembly.

We are not just looking for a general electrician. We are looking for someone who understands how switchboards are built, can work from drawings, and can accurately fabricate and install busbar systems to a high standard.

The Role

You will be working in our switchboard manufacturing workshop, assisting with the build and fit-out of commercial and industrial switchboards, distribution boards, control panels and custom assemblies.

The role will involve

- copper busbar measuring, marking, cutting, drilling, punching and bending
- use of busbar bending machinery, hydraulic punching equipment and workshop tools
- manual busbar bending and fitting where required
- installation of phase bars, neutral bars, earth bars and busbar supports
- fitting busbar to breakers, chassis, links, isolators and switchgear
- switchboard assembly and internal fit-out
- working from general arrangement drawings, single-line diagrams and fabrication details
- checking clearances, alignment, phase spacing and mechanical fit
- cleaning, deburring and preparing copper before installation
- fitting sleeving, heat shrink, insulation and covers where required




- torquing busbar and switchgear connections
- maintaining clean workmanship and removing swarf from assemblies
- working with the production team to meet workshop deadlines

What We Are Looking For

The ideal applicant will have strong experience in:
- switchboard manufacturing
- copper busbar fabrication
- busbar bending, either by machine or manually
- drilling, punching, cutting and preparing copper bar
- assembling MSBs, MSSBs, DBs, MCCs or industrial switchboards
- reading electrical and switchboard drawings
- working accurately to measurements and set-outs
- maintaining high-quality workmanship
- using torque tools, drilling equipment, benders, punches and fabrication equipment
- working safely in a production workshop environment

Experience with busbar bending machinery is highly regarded. Experience with manual busbar setting, offsets, dog-leg bends, 90-degree bends and custom copper work will also be highly regarded.

Essential Requirements

To be considered, you must be able to demonstrate:

- hands-on switchboard manufacturing experience
- practical busbar fabrication or installation experience
- ability to read and follow drawings
- strong attention to detail
- safe use of workshop tools and machinery
- reliable attendance and a good work ethic
- ability to work from our Wangara workshop

A current electrical licence is preferred.



However, applicants with strong switchboard assembly and busbar fabrication experience will also be considered.
