Synopsis: The Operations Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting a range of operational services that enable the effective day-to-day running of the Westmead Institute for Medical Research (WIMR) and its world-class medical research environment. This is a hands-on and varied role within the Operations team, providing support across Stores operations, facilities services, contractor coordination, specialised research environments and general building operations.
Working closely with researchers, professional staff, contractors and service providers, the Operations Services Coordinator ensures operational services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with Institute requirements.
The successful candidate will support inventory management, contractor services, operational systems, facilities activities and continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, practical problem-solving ability and a commitment to providing excellent service to internal stakeholders.
A key focus of the role is ensuring WIMR’s research teams have the operational support and facilities required to continue delivering impactful medical research.
Knowledge & Skills
- Experience in Stores, logistics, inventory management, facilities operations, operational support services or a similar environment.
- Demonstrated experience supporting inventory control, stock management, receiving, dispatch and supplier coordination activities.
- Experience coordinating contractors, service providers and operational activities across multiple areas.
- Experience working within research, laboratory, healthcare, technical,
manufacturing or other specialised environments would be highly desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to changing requirements.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of operational issues and follow tasks through to completion.
- Robust digital literacy, including Microsoft Office and experience using operational, inventory, maintenance or records management systems.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation, records and operational processes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with researchers, staff, contractors and service providers.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and safe work practices.
