Make a positive contribution to good governance, transparent decision-making and strong organisational accountability at the City of Boroondara. This is an exciting opportunity to support Council's governance functions while working collaboratively across the organisation to deliver high quality outcomes for our community.

Please note this is a fixed-term , 12-month parental leave replacement.

About The Role

As Governance Officer, you will play an important role in supporting Council's governance framework and ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements. Working within a collaborative team environment, you will provide advice, coordination and administrative support across a range of governance activities, including Council meetings, policies, delegations, statutory obligations and information management processes.

This role requires a highly organised professional who can manage competing priorities, build positive working relationships and provide accurate, timely and customer-focused support to internal and external stakeholders.

About You

You are a motivated and detail-oriented professional with experience in governance, administration, compliance, local government or a related field. You have strong written and verbal communication skills and can build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

You are able to interpret legislation, policies and procedures, apply sound judgement and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information. Your ability to prioritise work,



manage multiple tasks and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight timeframes will contribute to your success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

You will support the delivery of governance services that contribute to transparency, accountability and effective decision-making across the organisation. The role is responsible for coordinating governance processes, preparing and reviewing reports, maintaining governance records and supporting compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and Council policies.

You will provide advice and assistance to employees and stakeholders on governance-related matters, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help ensure Council meeting processes are managed efficiently and effectively. The role also supports the development and implementation of governance frameworks, procedures and practices that promote best-practice governance outcomes.

Employment Requirements

- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Public Policy or Legal studies and/or demonstrated knowledge/experience in a Governance/compliance rile and good working knowledge of relevant local government legislation.
- Experience with and good working knowledge of relevant local government legislation.
- Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
- Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record.
