About the organization

We are the Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation (AKKF), a not‑for‑profit that supports young people aged 8‑18 who are living in families affected by mental illness and those serving in the Defence force. Since 2002 we have helped young people to connect, learn, and grow through safe, fun and meaningful programs.

Our Programs

- Activity days – single‑day events where children can improve mental health literacy, develop help‑seeking behaviours and enjoy activities such as ice skating, laser tag, bowling and more.
- Camps – multi‑day programs offering connection, growth and empowerment, usually from 4 pm Friday to 4 pm Sunday.
- Connect sessions – online sessions hosted by staff and volunteers that provide a safe, supportive space for young people.

The opportunity

As a Philanthropy Coordinator you will support high‑quality stewardship, impact reporting and fundraising systems, manage a select portfolio of partnerships and maintain an individual giving program, while helping the fundraising team remain seamless and compliant.

What we're looking for

We are seeking a dynamic, energetic professional with strong relationship‑management, project‑coordination and fundraising experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Proactively develop, improve and monitor fundraising systems and processes.
- Monitor funding agreements, reporting schedules, stewardship plans and key deliverables.
- Deliver and support exceptional stewardship for philanthropic partners and support the development of donor communication.
- Coordinate donor communications, appeals, acknowledgements and stewardship activities.




- Maintain the individual giving programme and identify incremental growth opportunities.
- Identify, manage and take ownership of grant applications and work collaboratively on large grant proposals.

About you

- Degree in Business, Marketing or a related field and at least 3 years of professional fundraising experience.
- Understanding of philanthropic systems and up-to-date fundraising practices.
- Exposure to trusts, foundations, government contracts, corporate partnerships and individual giving.
- Experience coordinating fundraising reports and stewardship schedules.
- Experience with grant applications and funding partnerships.
- Knowledge of CRMs within the fundraising space.
- Current Working With Children Check.
