Job Description

We are seeking a Database Engineer to join our Digital Modernisation Division. The role is a 9‑month maximum tenure contract, working in complex, multi‑vendor technology environments within a supportive and collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain automated solutions supporting database operations including provisioning, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Administer Microsoft SQL Server environments to ensure availability, performance, security, and integrity of enterprise data platforms.
- Monitor and optimise database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and capacity planning.
- Implement automation within CI/CD pipelines to enable consistent and repeatable database deployments.
- Collaborate across engineering, data, and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated, reliable, and secure database solutions.

Qualifications and Requirements

- Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, including database administration, query development, and performance optimisation.
- Solid SQL expertise, with the ability to write, troubleshoot, and optimise queries, stored procedures, and data processes.




- Solid understanding of database fundamentals such as data modelling, indexing, backup/recovery, and high availability.
- Experience with automation and scripting (e.g. PowerShell, Python, or Bash), including exposure to CI/CD and version control practices.
- Collaborative mindset with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills across database and automation environments.
- Must be an Australian Citizen and able to gain and maintain a baseline level security clearance.
