Profectus is seeking an experienced IT Security Officer (ITSO) to provide security advice, guidance, and support across a complex, accredited ICT environment within Defence. The role supports the accreditation of the environment, monitors system logs and security tools, develops and maintains security documentation, and reviews and resolves security issues. The successful candidate will provide security advice to Defence personnel and IT Service Management functions, and liaise with relevant Defence parties on the scheduling and conduct of audits and accreditation events.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor the security posture of the environment and provide reports on security integrity, policy compliance, and environment monitoring
- Provide IT security advice and guidance to Defence personnel
- Locate, identify, and resolve security failures as part of an endorsed Security Risk Management Plan
- Maintain ICT security documentation and manage security risks across the setting
- Provide security advice to IT Service Management (ITSM) functions including change, problem, incident, and asset management
- Liaise with relevant Defence parties for the scheduling and conduct of audits and accreditation events
- Apply ITIL Service Management principles and processes under direction
- Provide support to designated Defence activities and engagements, including participation in planning and work routines, out-of-hours support, and some shift work as required
- Handle classified information in accordance with Commonwealth policy, including the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) and Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM)




- Uphold Defence's obligations regarding Commonwealth Intellectual Property and international requirements including Foreign Military Sales and ITAR

Required Experience

- 5+ years of industry IT security experience, relevant military experience, or a combination of both
- Qualifications in an IT Security-related discipline, including ICT security certifications from a recognised industry body (e.g., SSCP, Security+, SANS), or a tertiary degree or vocational qualifications in a closely related discipline
- 2+ years maintaining ICT system accreditation documentation in an Australian Government context, working with the DSPF and ISM
- Experience maintaining ICT system security configurations in an Australian Government context
- Demonstrated experience with applications that log and report events across Windows, RedHat, Cisco, and VMware ecosystems
- Solid working knowledge of ITIL principles and processes
- Unrestricted ability to deploy to ADF military installations in support of training events
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with technical peers and frontline IT leadership
- ITIL Foundation certification or higher
- Experience configuring and monitoring CrowdStrike Falcon LogScale or similar security monitoring platforms
- Prior experience working within Defence or similarly secure, highly regulated environments

Security Clearance Requirements

- Must be an Australian Citizen
- Must have a minimum AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance
- AGSVA NV2 Security Clearance is highly preferred

- 100% onsite, in Canberra
