Domestic & Family Violence Therapeutic Case Manager (Embedded Police Role)

Whitsunday Counselling and Support Inc. is the region’s leading specialist domestic and family violence service, supporting individuals, families, and communities across the Whitsundays for over 30 years. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Therapeutic Case Manager / DFV Embedded Worker to join our team, working closely with the Queensland Police Service to provide early intervention, crisis support, and therapeutic responses to people impacted by domestic and family violence.
? About the Role
This is a unique and highly rewarding role, combining:
- Therapeutic counselling
- Case management
- Advocacy and court support
- Multi‑agency collaboration
You will be based across Bowen and Cannonvale, including work within local police stations, delivering frontline responses and ongoing support to individuals and families impacted by domestic and family violence or sexual violence.
? Key Responsibilities
- Provide trauma‑informed counselling and therapeutic support
- Conduct risk assessment, safety planning, and case management
- Support clients through court processes and legal pathways
- Work alongside Queensland Police and partner agencies
- Deliver community education and awareness initiatives
- Maintain compliant, accurate case notes and client records
- Contribute to a child‑focused, culturally secure and strengths‑based practice
? About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in domestic and family violence and/or trauma‑informed practice
- Confident working with high‑risk and complex clients
- Skilled in risk assessment and safety planning
- A strong communicator who can build trust and engagement
- Passionate about advocacy, empowerment, and client outcomes
? Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Counselling (minimum)
- Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field (desirable)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in DFV or similar field
- Eligibility for AASW / ACA / APS membership (desirable)
- Current QLD Blue Card (essential)
