The Coalition of Peaks Secretariat is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Director, Finance to join our team. This is a key leadership opportunity for a finance professional who wants to contribute to meaningful national work supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled organisations and the implementation of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

About the Coalition of Peaks

The Coalition of Peaks is a representative body of more than 80 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled peak organisations and members who have come together to Close the Gap in partnership with Australian governments.

We believe Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should have a meaningful say on policies and programs related to Closing the Gap through formal partnerships with Australian governments at all levels. The Policy and Secretariat Team supports this work by providing high-level policy and strategic advice to Peaks Members, supporting implementation and monitoring of actions under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

About the role

The Director, Finance works collaboratively with the Director of the Office of the Executive to oversee the financial operations of the Coalition of Peaks. Reporting to the Executive Director,



this role leads the planning, management and coordination of financial and accounting activities, working closely with the National Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Organisation as the Policy and Secretariat Team.

This is a hands-on strategic leadership role, suited to someone who can provide solid financial guidance, support organisational decision-making, and ensure the Coalition of Peaks meets its financial, regulatory, audit, compliance and policy obligations.

What you’ll bring

- Experience managing and leading finance functions, ideally within a not-for-profit or community controlled organisation.
- The ability to balance operational finance delivery with strategic financial planning and advice.
- Strong knowledge of legislative, regulatory, audit, compliance and policy requirements.
- A collaborative leadership style and the confidence to work with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong cultural acumen and an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being and doing.
- A flexible, dynamic and solutions-focused approach to supporting organisational priorities.
- Play a senior leadership role in a nationally significant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led organisation.
- Contribute to work that supports the implementation of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
- Work alongside a committed team supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled peak organisations across Australia.
- Receive a competitive salary package of $160,000 - $167,500 plus 15% superannuation.
