Provide leadership and mentorship to Technical Officers, work closely with academic staff to ensure effective technical support, and maintain critical infrastructure and equipment.

About the Position

As the Senior Technical Services Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing technical support activities across laboratories, fieldwork, and research facilities in the Faculty of Science and Technology. The position ensures that technical services align with teaching and research needs while maintaining compliance with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, risk management policies, and best practices.

You will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations and continuous improvement across various Science, Engineering, and IT laboratories and facilities.

About You

To be successful, you will require:

- Trade qualification in related discipline or a degree in Science, Engineering, or a related discipline with relevant technical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high-level technical support across Science, Engineering and IT laboratories and workshops.
- Extensive knowledge of WHS regulations, risk management, and compliance frameworks applicable to laboratory environments.
- Experience in mentoring, training, and providing leadership to technical staff and students.
- Strong problem-solving skills and technical troubleshooting abilities in handling laboratory or engineering equipment.
- Ability to liaise effectively with academic and professional staff, students, external suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Experience in managing laboratory infrastructure, maintaining technical resources, and overseeing procurement processes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and apply technical procedures, policies, and documentation.
- Knowledge of chemical safety regulations.




- Experience with remote fieldwork and supporting research activities in challenging environments.
- Knowledge of higher education sector requirements for technical support services.

Remuneration

Appointment for this role will be at Professional Level 7 . The base salary will be in the range of $96,559- 105,992 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $112,974 - $124,010 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
