Proton Power, part of the GenusPlus Group, is seeking experienced Protection & Commissioning Engineer to join our growing Power & Utilities team.
Working across major transmission, distribution, renewable energy and substation projects throughout Australia, you'll play a key role in the testing, commissioning and energisation of critical electrical infrastructure.

The Role

Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, your responsibilities will include:

- Protection relay testing, commissioning and fault finding.
- Developing and executing commissioning procedures and test plans.
- Configuring and commissioning protection systems for HV substations.
- Secondary injection and functional testing.
- Supporting energisation activities and commissioning programs.
- Diagnosing and resolving protection system issues.
- Preparing commissioning reports and technical documentation.
- Interpreting electrical drawings, schematics and protection philosophies.
- Working closely with project managers,



clients and site teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ensuring all commissioning activities are completed safely and in accordance with Australian Standards and client requirements.

About You

- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent).
- Previous Protection & Commissioning experience within transmission, distribution or renewable energy.
- Strong knowledge of protection relays including SEL, Siemens, ABB/Hitachi Energy, GE Multilin or Schneider.
- Experience commissioning HV substations and power systems.
- Strong understanding of protection schemes including:
- Distance Protection
- Differential Protection
- Transformer Protection
- Bus Protection
- Feeder Protection

- Experience using relay configuration software.
- Solid analytical and fault-finding skills.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Ability to travel to project sites across Australia.

Highly Desirable

- Experience commissioning substations from 33kV to 330kV.
- Renewable Energy, BESS or Wind Farm commissioning experience.
- Utility network experience.
- HV switching or commissioning authorisations.
