Position Information

Blackwell Public School is a diverse, multicultural and welcoming learning community of approximately 470 students, including 7% of students who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and 133 students from backgrounds other than English.

The learning and support teacher provides direct and timely specialist assistance to students in mainstream classes with disability and their teachers. Their work emphasises:

- the needs of individual students
- school priorities, and
- evidence-based programs to assist students with additional learning and support needs.

Learning and support teachers use a collaborative and consultative approach so that students themselves and their parents and carers are actively involved in decision-making.

Specific Selection Criteria

- 1. Approval to teach and demonstrated experience in supporting students with disability and additional learning and support needs.
- 2. Demonstrated understanding and application of inclusive education practices, including NCCD requirements, disability adjustments and personalised support planning.
- 3. Demonstrated ability to design,



deliver and evaluate targeted learning and support interventions for students with diverse learning, behavioural, social and emotional needs.
- 4. Highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with demonstrated capacity to build collaborative partnerships.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
