The role of the Financial Support Worker (FSW) provides support to outreach rural and regional areas. The FSW’s will work within the Financial Counselling team specifically with clients who are at risk of/or experiencing mortgage distress, rental and rates arrears, and utility issues. The FSW’s will work directly with the clients, following an intake assessment, advocate, and refer if needed to other programs (internally and externally).

The FSW’s will provide the clients with relevant information, money management skills, budgeting and coaching to help clients build financial resilience to assist them in maintaining secure accommodation and managing household debt. This also includes:

- Providing community education workshops
- Planning and saving for the future

Position Context

This position reports directly to the Manager of Community Service and will work closely with the Financial Counselling Team covering five catchment areas. It is also expected that this position works within the larger Primary Care Connect team, and network with external organisations.

Key Selection Criteria

The following criteria must be met and addressed in applications for consideration for this position:

- The individual may be undertaking their studies in the Diploma of Financial Counselling, or willing to undertake studies to complete a Diploma of Financial Counselling




- Demonstrated ability to provide assessment and case management to individuals including care coordination and working in partnership with an external lead clinician and care team.
- Skills in recognition of other issues requiring referral to other workers.
- Experience in planning, delivering, and evaluating groups and programs.
- Ability to maintain client documentation including care plans, case notes and statistics.
- Ability to self-manage a complex workload, manage multiple tasks, prioritise, and delegate where necessary to meet prescribed timeline with available resources.
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience using technology to complete daily work tasks.Professional and personal alignment with Primary Care Connect core values.
