About the RoleReporting to the Senior Waste Management Officer, this role supports the delivery of waste management programs, drives service improvements, and supports the City's strategic waste objectives.
This is a diverse role that combines operational delivery, stakeholder engagement, compliance, data analysis, and strategic planning. You will work across a broad range of initiatives that help improve waste services, increase resource recovery, support regulatory compliance, and contribute to positive environmental outcomes for the community.
The position’s key responsibilities are:
- Support the delivery of waste management, recycling, and resource recovery programs.
- Review and assess Waste Management Plans for developments and businesses.
- Analyse waste data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for service improvements and innovation.
- Assist with the development and review of strategic waste documents, policies, local laws, operational guidelines, and business continuity plans.
- Support compliance and licensing activities, ensuring alignment with legislative and environmental requirements.
- Contribute to the review, improvement, and documentation of waste management processes, incorporating stakeholder feedback and operational insights to support continuous service improvement.
- Investigate and resolve complex waste-related enquiries and service issues.
- Prepare reports, briefings, presentations, and recommendations for a range of stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with residents, contractors, developers, government agencies, and internal teams to achieve positive service and environmental outcomes.
About you As a suitable candidate,
you would be passionate about waste management, sustainability, and making a real difference in your community. You would be adaptable, ready to take on a challenge and be able to demonstrate the below requirements:
- Qualifications in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Education, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in a Waste Management or related role.
- Robust analytical, research, and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- A customer-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills.
- Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety principles and practices.
- Intermediate computing, literacy, and numeracy skills.
- A current C Class Driver’s Licence
