In Alice Springs, Addiction Medicine is not a narrow subspecialty—it is integrated, complex, and deeply human, spanning hospital care, community engagement, youth services, and remote outreach across Central Australia.

You’ll work at Alice Springs Hospital alongside a passionate multidisciplinary team, delivering care that crosses traditional boundaries. Your practice will include inpatient and consultation liaison services, supporting patients through withdrawal and complex admissions while guiding hospital teams in managing alcohol and other drug issues. You’ll contribute to early engagement through ED in reach, and provide ongoing care through outpatient pharmacotherapy and community follow-up.

Beyond the hospital,



your role extends into areas that are rarely part of metropolitan practice. You’ll contribute to youth AOD services, supporting early intervention and care for young people, and play a role in managing volatile substance use presentations, including working within Northern Territory legislative frameworks. You’ll also support services that reach into remote communities, delivering care where access and continuity truly matter.

This is a role where you are not just delivering care—you are shaping how care is delivered. You’ll support and mentor junior doctors, contribute to service development, and help strengthen an integrated, region-wide Alcohol and Other Drugs service.
