EXECUTIVE GENERAL MANAGER, PEOPLE & CULTURE
The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is a national health organisation that provides essential24-hourmedical care and emergency services to people living in rural and remote parts of Australia. Known globally as one of the largest aeromedical services and a pioneer in its field, RFDS uses advanced aviation, medical, and communication technologies along with a widespread fleet to reachacross 7.69 million squarekilometersof Australia, specifically targetingareas where regular health services are scarce. Their promise- ‘the furthest corner, the finest care’.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Executive General Manager, People & Culture is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for leading the organisation’s People and Culture function.
- Providing executive leadership across the organisation’s People and Culture portfolio;
- Developing and implementing contemporary workforce and people strategies;
- Leading workforce planning, succession planning and leadership capability initiatives;
- Overseeing employee relations, payroll and HR operations;
- Driving organisational transformation and enterprise-wide change management initiatives;
- Building high-performing teams and fostering a positive, values-driven organisational culture.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
The successful candidate will bring extensive executive leadership experience leading a broad People and Culture portfolio within a large, complex or highly regulated organisation. The candidate will demonstrate expertise in workforce strategy, organisational development, employee and industrial relations, organisational change, leadership development and governance. Solid commercial acumen, strategic thinking and exceptional stakeholder engagement skills are essential, together with a proven ability to influence executive decision‑making, lead high‑performing teams and deliver sustainable organisational outcomes. Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Organisational Development, Organisational Psychology, Business Management, Law or related discipline or an equivalent combination of qualifications and executive leadership experience. Postgraduate qualifications, GAICD accreditation, CAHRI/FAHRI membership or recognised executive coaching or change management qualifications will be highly regarded.
