Long-Term Mining Infrastructure Project
An experienced Civil Project Manager is required to support the delivery of a major tailings storage facility closure project
This is a senior project delivery role suited to someone with strong experience across mining infrastructure, tailings storage facilities, dams, bulk earthworks, rehabilitation, roads, drainage or similar civil construction projects.
You will take ownership of the day‑to‑day delivery of civil works, working closely with the asset owner, engineering consultants, contractors and site stakeholders to ensure the project is delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with the approved design, schedule and budget.
THE ROLE
You will be responsible for managing the delivery of civil works associated with the closure and rehabilitation of a tailings storage facility.
- Manage the delivery of tailings dam closure and civil earthworks packages.
- Coordinate contractors, consultants, engineers and site‑based stakeholders.
- Manage project scope, costs, schedules, risks and quality requirements.
- Monitor construction progress against approved programs and budgets.
- Lead project meetings, contractor reviews and stakeholder updates.
- Review construction methodologies, work packs and project documentation.
- Manage technical queries, RFIs, variations and design changes.
- Ensure works comply with project specifications, approved designs and statutory requirements.
- Oversee bulk earthworks, rehabilitation, drainage, roads and associated civil infrastructure.
- Manage safety, environmental and operational risks throughout project delivery.
- Review contractor performance, productivity and commercial outcomes.
- Prepare project reports, forecasts and updates for senior management.
- Support commissioning, handover and project close‑out activities.
ABOUT YOU
You will ideally have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager, Senior Project Engineer or Civil Project Manager.
- Experience delivering mining, tailings, dam, earthworks, rehabilitation or civil infrastructure projects.
- Previous exposure to tailings storage facilities or dam closure projects will be highly regarded.
- Strong contractor and stakeholder management experience.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, risks and commercial matters.
- A strong understanding of civil construction methodology and quality requirements.
- The ability to review engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Robust communication, leadership and reporting skills.
- A demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
- Australian working rights.
THE PROJECT
The project involves the staged closure and rehabilitation of a significant tailings storage facility within an operating mining environment.
The scope includes major civil earthworks, landform development, surface water management, drainage, rehabilitation, access roads and associated closure works.
The role will work directly with a major mining asset owner and an established team of engineering, construction and operational stakeholders.
ROSTER OPTIONS
Roster arrangements may include:
- 7 days on / 7 days off
- 2 weeks on / 1 week off
- 4 days on / 3 days off
