Our client is seeking an experienced Data Governance Lead to drive the implementation of enterprise data governance capabilities as part of a major Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) transformation program within a large Australian organisation.

This is a key leadership prospect to establish foundational data governance practices, improve data quality and stewardship, and create a scalable governance framework that supports enterprise-wide adoption.

About the Role

As the Data Governance Lead, you will work across business, technology, risk and compliance teams to design and implement sustainable data governance capabilities. You will establish governance frameworks, ownership models, standards and processes that ensure critical organisational data is trusted, secure and effectively managed throughout its lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the design and implementation of an enterprise Data Governance Framework.
- Define data ownership, stewardship and accountability across business domains.
- Establish data quality standards, controls, monitoring and remediation processes.
- Develop data classification, metadata management and data lifecycle management practices.
- Define master and reference data requirements within a GRC platform.
- Identify and document critical data elements supporting governance, risk, compliance and regulatory obligations.
- Develop business glossaries, data dictionaries and information asset registers.
- Partner with business stakeholders to improve data quality,



consistency and reporting.
- Support implementation of governance workflows and reporting capabilities within the selected GRC solution.
- Ensure alignment with records management, cyber security, privacy and information management requirements.
- Establish governance forums, reporting mechanisms and decision-making processes.
- Drive organisational data governance maturity through stakeholder engagement and education.

About You

You will bring proven experience delivering enterprise data governance initiatives within complex, highly regulated environments and have the ability to influence stakeholders across both business and technology functions.

You will have:

- Demonstrated experience establishing or maturing enterprise data governance capabilities.
- Experience delivering data governance within ERP, GRC, risk, compliance or enterprise transformation programs.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Data Governance
- Data Quality Management
- Metadata Management
- Master Data Management (MDM)
- Information Lifecycle Management

- Experience developing governance operating models, policies, standards and procedures.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience working within highly regulated or Australian Government environments.
- Familiarity with recognised frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM or similar.
- Understanding of the Archives Act 1983 and National Archives of Australia requirements is highly desirable.
