Job Description

SINGH, HARWINDER Bhinder Farm is seeking reliable and experienced Fruit Farm Workers to support its expanding banana-growing operations in Lower Cowley, Queensland. The role involves assisting with the cultivation, maintenance, harvesting and preparation of banana crops, as well as operating irrigation systems, farm machinery and equipment. The successful candidates must be physically fit, dependable and capable of working outdoors in tropical conditions while maintaining productivity, crop quality and workplace safety standards.

Task & responsibilities Inspect banana crops and report signs of pests, disease, damage or poor growth. Prepare and cultivate soil and assist with planting and fertilising crops. Undertake pruning, thinning, weeding, hoeing and other crop-maintenance activities.

Operate and monitor irrigation, pumping and water-supply systems. Apply pesticides and other crop treatments in accordance with instructions and safety procedures. Assist with harvesting and handling bananas according to quality requirements.

Operate and maintain tractors and general farm machinery used for cultivation, fertilising, spraying and harvesting. Maintain and clean farm infrastructure, machinery, tools, sheds, fences and irrigation equipment. Follow workplace health and safety,



chemical-handling and farm biosecurity requirements.

Qualification & experience A relevant qualification, or one to three years of relevant experience in fruit farming, horticulture or agriculture in lieu of a formal qualification. Previous experience in banana farming or tropical fruit production is highly regarded. Experience operating tractors, irrigation systems and general farm machinery is preferred.

Knowledge of crop maintenance, harvesting and pest-control procedures. Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Applicants must have at least functional English and the ability to follow instructions and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Strong reliability, time-management and workplace-safety awareness. A valid driver’s licence is desirable. Applicants must hold valid Australian working rights.
