The Role

The Deputy Principal will play a key role within the Wellard PS leadership team, working closely with the Principal, fellow Deputy Principals and middle leaders to strengthen a positive, high-performing school culture and improve teaching, learning and student outcomes.

Central to the role is the capacity to build trusting,

respectful relationships with staff, students, families and the wider school community. The successful applicant will ideally demonstrate highly developed interpersonal skills, sound judgement and the ability to engage in professional conversations that build collective responsibility and strengthen practice.

Educational leadership will be a significant focus. The successful applicant will ideally have the capacity to support and coach teachers across a varied range of experience, providing feedback and professional guidance that builds capability, promotes reflection and strengthens consistency of practice across the school.

The Deputy Principal will also work closely with middle leaders, including Teaching Excellence for Learning (TEFL) Leaders, to build their capacity to lead teams, analyse evidence, facilitate collaboration and translate whole-school priorities into sustained improvements in classroom practice. The ability to develop others as leaders and support teams through positive change will be highly valued.

As part of the senior leadership team, the Deputy Principal will contribute to whole-school improvement priorities and the effective day-to-day operation of the school, including student services, staff and student wellbeing, workforce organisation, policy development, timetabling and other operational responsibilities.

Experience in leading, teaching and/or supporting high-quality Early Childhood Education would be advantageous, particularly where this demonstrates a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practice, curriculum, pedagogy, early intervention and transition.

This position provides an opportunity for a relational and capable school leader to contribute meaningfully to Wellard PS's continued development by building the capability of others and positively influencing the culture, systems and practices that support sustained school improvement.
