As a Ranger, you’ll have the opportunity to choose various career paths across Queensland, with some of the most stunning landscapes as your ‘office,’ including the outback, rainforests, mountains, reefs, and coastal islands.

No two days are the same - work may include patrolling parks, maintaining facilities, repairing tracks, engaging with visitors, preserving Cultural Heritage sites, protecting threatened species, conducting planned burns, controlling invasive species, delivering education and compliance programs, or managing wildlife rehabilitation.

Rangers work as part of supportive teams across Queensland. We encourage applications from people with a range of skills and backgrounds, including conservation, land management, education, community engagement, trades, administration, customer service, managing wildlife rehabilitation, and practical outdoor experience. QPWS values practical skills, lived experience, local knowledge, teamwork and a willingness to learn.

About The OO3 Ranger Intake Scheme

An entry pathway for permanent, and/or temporary QPWS Ranger roles across Queensland, including Indigenous Identified and Diverse Ability Designated positions. It offers:

- Diverse, impactful roles in conservation, wildlife protection, visitor safety, and/or education.
- Locations across the State with varied landscapes and communities.
- Career progression and development opportunities.

What You Need To Know Before Applying

- You must hold a current, unrestricted manual driver licence. (P Plates are acceptable).
- Some roles may require a current Blue Card.
- Applications remain current for 3 months unless withdrawn; you can update or resubmit anytime.

If you meet mandatory requirements, you’ll be invited to complete a more detailed questionnaire covering location preferences, skills, experience, fieldwork and travel availability, overnight stays, and roster participation. Your application cannot progress without completing this step.
