Compliance and Training Coordinator role, Ongoing Full time chance, Cog grade 3 - $100,490 - $108,590 plus superannuation, On-site at Beechworth Correctional Centre.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Compliance and Training Coordinator to provide a critical role at Beechworth Correctional Centre.

The Beechworth Correctional Centre (BCC) is a minimum-security facility with a focus on preparing individuals for release and successful reintegration back into society. It offers various working industries with the men given the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will effectively link them to employment on release. When not engaged in work, the men attend rehabilitative programs to address their offending behaviour, engage in education and visits whilst many also engage in recreation and community assistance programs.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Compliance and Training Coordinator will have responsibility for providing a range of training and operational coordination activities to BCC staff, as well as oversight, collation and reporting of procedural compliance.

The Compliance and Training Coordinator will work with the Workforce Development Supervisor (WDS)



to identify learning opportunities that meet individual and organisational needs as part of the staff member's Performance Plan and will assist the WDS in ensuring that Performance Plans are completed and assessed within specified timelines. As well as undertaking an auditing role, oversight and management of daily compliance and reporting. The position will be responsible for investigating non-compliance and develop compliance processes.

Additionally, the position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with various requirements relevant to BCC. This will include preparing and participating in audits to various areas, not limited to custodial security requirements, but extend to other accountable areas such as industries, stores, finance, human resources and recreation, to ensure compliance with legislation and that BCC's obligations are met.

This position will require the incumbent to undertake operational and custodial duties from time to time that will require direct prisoner contact.

Some of your duties will include:

- Maintain policy and compliance records, ensuring accurate recordkeeping and effective management of systems, including Nexus Reporting.
- Assist with coordinating and training delivery including new staff induction programs and mandatory training for current custodial staff at BCC.
- Assist and support the WDS with the development, implementation and maintenance of local staff training schedule at BCC to ensure mandatory qualifications are maintained.
- Maintain a local database of participation and completion of scheduled training at BCC.

About you





To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Experience in the design and implementation of a variety of competency-based training programs.
- Capacity to design and implement computer-based data collection programs, e.g SharePoint, Excel, Word etc.
- Experience in developing Performance Plans and managing Performance Plan processes.
- Proven ability to analyse and interpret information to produce reports using highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications/requirements

- Mandatory completion of the prison officer pre-service training.
- Certificate III in Correctional Practice (mandatory)
- Certificate IV in Correctional Practice (desirable)
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (TAE) (highly desirable)
- Development and implementation of operational policy (highly desirable)

The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) and misconduct screening.
