Long-Term Mining Infrastructure Project
An experienced Electrical Project Manager is required to support the delivery of electrical works associated with a major mine closure and rehabilitation project
This role is suited to a senior electrical project professional with experience delivering mining, heavy industrial, utilities, processing, infrastructure or brownfield electrical projects.
You will manage the planning and delivery of electrical work packages, working closely with the asset owner, engineering consultants, contractors and site stakeholders to ensure all works are completed safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with project standards.
THE ROLE
Key responsibilities will include:
- Manage the delivery of electrical project packages within an operating mining environment.
- Coordinate electrical contractors, consultants, engineers and internal stakeholders.
- Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, risks and quality requirements.
- Review electrical designs, drawings, specifications and construction documentation.
- Oversee electrical installation, upgrades, isolations, testing and commissioning activities.
- Manage contractor performance, productivity and commercial outcomes.
- Review work packs, construction methodologies, inspection plans and commissioning documentation.
- Manage technical queries, RFIs, variations and design changes.
- Ensure works comply with Australian Standards, site procedures and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate electrical interfaces with civil, mechanical, operational and closure workstreams.
- Lead project meetings, contractor reviews and stakeholder updates.
- Monitor progress against project schedules and approved budgets.
- Prepare forecasts, progress reports and updates for senior management.
- Support handover, commissioning, close-out and final documentation.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, environmental compliance and risk management.
ABOUT YOU
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant electrical qualification.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Project Manager, Senior Project Engineer or Electrical Engineer.
- Experience delivering mining, heavy industrial, infrastructure or processing projects.
- Robust knowledge of electrical construction, testing, commissioning and compliance.
- Experience managing contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- The ability to review electrical drawings, scopes, specifications and technical documentation.
- Strong project controls experience across cost, schedule, risk and reporting.
- Experience working within brownfield or operational environments.
- Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- A demonstrated commitment to safety and quality.
- Australian working rights.
- The ability to work FIFO to Groote Eylandt.
- Highly regarded experience includes:
- Mine closure or rehabilitation projects.
- HV and LV electrical systems.
- Power distribution and reticulation.
- Switchboards, transformers and substations.
- Instrumentation and control systems.
- Temporary power and site services.
- Testing, commissioning and energisation.
- Electrical infrastructure decommissioning.
THE PROJECT
The role forms part of a major mine closure and rehabilitation program involving civil, electrical and infrastructure work packages.
The project requires close coordination between engineering, construction, operations, environmental and closure teams.
You will work directly with a major mining asset owner and an established team of project delivery professionals.
ROSTER OPTIONS
Roster arrangements may include:
- 7 days on / 7 days off
- 2 weeks on / 1 week off
- 4 days on / 3 days off
The preferred roster will be discussed based on project requirements and candidate availability.
