Business Development & Advancement Manager
Talentpath is proud to be partnering with Miwatj Health on the appointment of a newly created Advancement Manager. This is not your typical fundraising role.
Reporting directly to the CEO initially, you'll be responsible for building and leading Miwatj Health's advancement function, identifying new revenue opportunities, creating strategic partnerships, growing philanthropic support and helping elevate the organisation's profile nationally. You'll have the opportunity to create something from the ground up, bringing commercial thinking, innovation and relationship-building expertise to an organisation delivering life-changing outcomes across East Arnhem Land.
What's in it for you?
This is a rare opportunity to combine commercial acumen with genuine purpose, helping strengthen an organisation whose work is driven by self-determination, community control and improved health outcomes for Yolŋu communities.
- Newly created role with significant autonomy and influence.
- Direct access to and partnership with the CEO and Executive team.
- Opportunity to build a revenue diversification strategy from the ground up.
- Shape the national profile and future growth of a highly respected organisation.
- Salary packaging benefits available through a not-for-profit structure.
- Five weeks annual leave, plus an additional week of leave each year.
- Ongoing professional development opportunities and support.
- Adaptable location options across Australia, with a preference for QLD, WA or NT-based candidates.
- Relocation support available for candidates wishing to move to Darwin.
- The opportunity to experience and engage with one of Australia's most unique and culturally rich regions.
About the role:
- Develop and execute Miwatj Health's advancement and revenue diversification strategy.
- Identify, pursue and secure new corporate partnerships, philanthropic opportunities and funding streams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across corporate, government, philanthropic and community sectors.
- Increase national awareness and visibility of Miwatj Health and its impact.
- Lead the development of partnership proposals, agreements and stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Oversee fundraising initiatives, campaigns and donor engagement activities.
- Analyse trends and opportunities to create sustainable and diversified revenue streams.
- Collaborate closely with leaders across the organisation to align funding opportunities with community priorities.
- Lead grant identification, application and compliance activities.
- Travel regularly to Darwin and East Arnhem Land to build relationships and deepen understanding of community needs.
About you:
- Successfully delivered tangible commercial outcomes through partnerships, business development, fundraising, sponsorships or revenue growth initiatives.
- Strong commercial acumen and can translate relationships into sustainable revenue outcomes.
- You bring a strategic mindset but are equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves and executing.
- Excited by ambiguity and thrive in environments where you're building something current.
- Confident stakeholder manager who can influence and build trust across diverse groups.
- You understand the importance of culturally safe engagement and working alongside communities rather than directing them.
- Experience within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health, healthcare or the not-for-profit sector is welcomed but not essential
- You're motivated by purpose and want your work to contribute to meaningful, long-term impact.
Important Note:
As part of this recruitment journey, shortlisted candidates will need to travel to the Northern Territory for a panel interview process.
The successful candidate will need to spend a period of time in Darwin and East Arnhem Land during their onboarding period, including approximately the first month immersed in the organisation, its people and the communities it serves. This role requires someone who is genuinely committed to understanding the unique cultural, operational and community context in which Miwatj Health operates.
