Focus of the Role

At Telstra, we’re building the next generation of API and Agentic AI security capability — and we’re looking for a Senior Security Engineer to help shape it. What You’ll Do

Global Networks & Technology - Security & Operations is responsible for Telstra's security and operations, protecting Telstra's assets and infrastructure. This is not a traditional security operations role. You’ll go beyond triaging alerts and maintaining the status quo. You’ll ask better questions, automate repetitive work and help build a scalable,



resilient security capability that’s ready for what comes next. Using Cequence, you’ll work with security, architecture, platform, application and product teams to improve how Telstra discovers, understands and protects the APIs behind critical services used by millions of Australians. As a Senior Security Engineer – API & Agentic AI Security, you’ll help design, implement and continuously improve Telstra’s API security capability.

What you’ll bring

You don’t need to have worked with Cequence before. We can teach the platform. What matters most is that you’re a strong engineer who is curious, practical and excited by the future of API and AI security. You may come from security, software engineering, cloud, platform, DevSecOps, application security or a related technical background. You’ll likely be a great fit if you have experience or capability across some of the following areas — we don’t expect you to tick every box:

- Security engineering and architecture
- API, cloud and application technologies
- Automation and DevSecOps

If you’re curious, technically robust and interested in API security, automation and the future of AI‑enabled cyber security, we’d love to hear from you — even if your experience doesn’t match every part of the role description. Experience with Cequence would be fantastic, but it is not essential. If you’ve built skills in API gateways, application security, cloud engineering, DevSecOps, software engineering, security automation, WAAP, bot mitigation or adjacent cyber security technologies — and you’re ready to deepen your expertise in one of the fastest-evolving areas of security — this could be the role for you.
