We’re looking for a Head of Technology to lead the design, build, and evolution of the proprietary trading platform that powers AIR’s trading operations.

This is a rare prospect to architect a next-generation HFT technology stack from the ground up. You will own the technical vision across trading infrastructure, market data, execution, risk systems, networking, and production operations, ensuring every layer of the platform is robust, scalable, and exceptionally fast.

What you will do:

- Define and execute the technology strategy for AIR’s trading platform.
- Design and build core trading systems including market data, order management, execution, and risk infrastructure.
- Lead architecture decisions across hardware, networking, co-location, cloud, and on-premise environments.
- Optimise system performance, latency, reliability, and operational resilience.
- Build and lead a high-performance engineering team.
- Work closely with traders, quants, and researchers to align technology with trading strategy and business objectives.
- Establish engineering standards, deployment processes, observability, and production controls.




- Own the technology roadmap from initial launch through global expansion and 24/5 trading operations.

What you bring:

- Significant experience building electronic trading or HFT systems within a proprietary trading firm, market maker, hedge fund, or exchange environment.
- Deep expertise in low-latency systems architecture
- Strong understanding of market data and exchange connectivity (ITCH, OUCH, FIX, BOE/PITCH, or similar).
- Proven ability to evaluate trade-offs between speed, reliability, scalability, and cost.
- Experience leading senior engineering teams and delivering complex technical projects.
- A builder’s mindset - highly technical, pragmatic, decisive, and motivated by creating world-class systems from first principles.

Job must have requirements:

- Prior experience at a leading HFT
- Ability to work in person at our Sydney office
