Day‑to‑day it’s high technical standards, clear communication and senior leaders who stay close enough to support but far enough to let you get on with the job.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead the structural design and delivery on high‑rise and complex landmark buildings from early concept right through construction.
You’ll take day‑to‑day ownership of key projects, running design, coordination and documentation with light‑touch oversight from a director.
You’ll work across commercial, mixed‑use, premium resi and public buildings, each with their own structural challenges and tight programs.
You’ll keep structure, services and architecture aligned by working closely with architects, services engineers and project managers.
You’ll front client meetings, talk through options and explain structural decisions and trade‑offs in plain language.
You’ll mentor junior and Intermediate engineers and drafters, checking their work, guiding design calls and helping them grow.
What you’ll bring
You’re degree‑qualified in structural engineering and you’ve spent five years on building structures in consultancy.
You’ve delivered high‑rise or complex multi‑storey projects before and can walk someone through them end‑to‑end.
You’re comfortable running projects with real independence, but you know when to pull a director in on the bigger calls.
You’re strong on analysis and modelling tools and you think about constructability and staging as much as you do about the numbers.
You can explain structural ideas to architects and clients in a way that actually makes sense to them.
You like leading and coaching others and you’re ready to move further into Associate‑level responsibility.
