The Role
Reporting directly to the Director, this is a true "own the function" position. You'll take responsibility for the end-to-end finance function of a growing agricultural business while acting as a trusted adviser to the ownership group.
Based five days per week in the Melbourne inner suburbs, you'll enjoy a highly visible role that combines strategic finance, commercial partnering and operational involvement. Regular travel to regional operations is required, giving you the opportunity to build relationships across the business and gain firsthand exposure to the drivers behind its success.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end finance function including reporting, forecasting and budgeting
- Manage cashflow, banking relationships,
debt facilities and covenant reporting
- Deliver meaningful financial insights and analysis to support decision-making
- Prepare board and management reporting packs
- Oversee statutory compliance, taxation, payroll and audit requirements
- Drive process improvement initiatives and strengthen financial controls
- Partner with operational stakeholders to improve commercial outcomes
- Develop robust budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning frameworks
- Support strategic growth initiatives, projects and capital investment decisions
- Act as a trusted business partner to the leadership team
The Candidate
- CA or CPA qualified with proven finance leadership experience
- Experience owning a finance function within an SME, agribusiness, horticultural or asset-intensive environment
- Strong capability across financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
- Experience managing lender relationships and banking facilities
- Commercially minded with a genuine interest in understanding business operations
- Confident operating autonomously and taking ownership of outcomes
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build credibility across all levels of a business
