Helios Advisory

Brisbane City

Helios Advisory is a modern, boutique restructuring, insolvency and advisory firm providing practical, commercially grounded solutions across corporate and personal insolvency. We work closely with businesses, directors, creditors, individuals and professional advisers during complex and often high-pressure situations.

As the firm continues to grow, we are looking for a senior leader who combines strong technical capability with commercial judgement, relationship-building and a genuine commitment to developing people. This is an opportunity to make a visible contribution to the direction of an agile practice, without the layers and constraints of a large firm.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a high-performing Senior Manager ready to step toward Director, or an established Director looking for a broader leadership platform enabling them to step to Principal. Working directly with the Principal, you will oversee complex engagements, lead senior stakeholder relationships, grow referral networks and help build the firm’s leadership capability.

The role offers meaningful influence over client strategy, quality, team performance, financial outcomes, systems and market positioning. It will suit someone who wants to remain close to important work while also playing a central role in the growth and evolution of the practice.

What you will do

- Lead a significant portfolio of complex corporate and personal insolvency, restructuring and advisory engagements.
- Set engagement strategy, guide high-stakes decisions and balance commercial outcomes with statutory, fiduciary and professional obligations.
- Act as a trusted adviser to directors, boards, creditors, financiers, legal advisers, regulators and other key stakeholders.
- Lead sensitive negotiations, disputes, creditor meetings, court-related processes and high-profile communications.

- Provide senior technical direction and act as an escalation point on complex legal, accounting, regulatory and risk issues.
- Review and shape critical reports, investigations, strategic advice and compliance deliverables to ensure consistent quality and defensible decision-making.
- Take accountability for portfolio performance, including planning, resourcing, budgets, WIP, billing, recoverability, profitability and risk.
- Lead and develop Managers, Supervisors and broader engagement teams, setting clear expectations and building future leaders.
- Drive business development through trusted referrer relationships, market networks, proposals, thought leadership and the identification of new opportunities.
- Work with the Principal on firm strategy, market positioning, service development, recruitment, succession and operational priorities.
- Champion improvements in systems, automation, data quality, workflow and scalable service delivery.

What you will bring

- Typically 8+ years of relevant insolvency and restructuring experience, including leadership of complex or high-risk engagements.
- A strong record of commercial decision-making, stakeholder influence and delivery in demanding or contentious matters.
- Deep knowledge of Australian corporate insolvency and restructuring frameworks; personal insolvency experience will also be valued.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with lawyers, accountants, financiers, regulators, creditors and other referrers.

- A credible business development track record and the confidence to represent the firm in the market.
- Experience leading senior professionals, managing performance and developing high-capability teams.
- Strong financial and operational discipline across engagement budgets, recoverability, utilisation and portfolio profitability.
- CA, CPA or IPA qualification together with ARITA or equivalent restructuring credentials.
- Registered Liquidator and/or Registered Trustee status, or a credible pathway toward registration, will be highly regarded.
- An entrepreneurial, low-ego leadership style aligned with a contemporary, collaborative boutique firm.
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency.

Why join Helios

- A genuine leadership role with direct influence over firm strategy, quality, culture and growth.
- The chance to build a long-term senior position as the firm expands its team, appointments and advisory capability.
- Direct access to the Principal and the ability to make decisions without unnecessary bureaucracy.
- A broad mandate spanning complex client work, business development, people leadership and practice improvement.
- An executive remuneration package, superannuation and performance bonus tailored to experience, market profile and contribution.
- Flexible working arrangements and a culture that values accountability, trust and sustainable performance.
- A platform to strengthen your personal market profile through thought leadership, industry participation and meaningful referral relationships.
- Pathway to Principal and obtaining registrations.
