This is an opportunity to join a well-established speciality chemicals manufacturer supplying customers across Australia and New Zealand. The site produces chemical solutions used within food manufacturing and industrial processing environments, including products applied to metal surfaces. There is a close knit team on site, with a cooperative working environment, strong technical support and hands‑on training from an experienced manager.
The Role
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Technical Services Chemist will support day‑to‑day laboratory operations and ensure production batches meet all required specifications before release.
Responsibilities
- Complete quality control testing of production batches prior to release
- Verify products meet required specifications and quality standards
- Conduct corrosion testing and prepare clear technical reports
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory and testing equipment
- Support technical service requests from sales teams and customers
- Assist with investigation and resolution of product or technical issues
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and test documentation
- Work closely with production to support consistent product quality
- Follow Permit to Work requirements and site safety procedures
- Ensure compliance with relevant EHS policies and company standards
Your Background
- A degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline
- At least 1 year of experience within chemicals, manufacturing, laboratory testing or a related industry
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing
- Confidence working with technical procedures and documentation
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work collaboratively within a small team
- A proactive, responsible and solutions‑focused mindset
- Experience in metal finishing, corrosion testing or speciality chemical manufacturing would be advantageous, but is not essential.
