DYHS, WA's largest Aboriginal community-controlled health service, needs you in our Health Promotions Team to drive community-wide wellbeing through education, events and engagement!
About the Organisation
The Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service (DYHS) is the largest Aboriginal community-controlled health service provider in Western Australia, providing care to over 20,000 Aboriginal patients across four clinics in East Perth, Mirrabooka, Maddington and Midland.
This is a Maximum-Term position until 30th of June 2027 with potential of extension and/or Permanency.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively as a valued team member, supporting clinical staff to develop impactful health promotion and community engagement initiatives.
- Deliver community education on vital topics like chronic disease management, nutrition, sexual health, alcohol harm reduction, physical activity and smoking cessation.
- Partner with staff, families and stakeholders to design and implement health promotion programs and strategies that build community capacity.
- Inspire individuals, families and communities to own their health using proven health promotion principles.
- Manage electronic records and stats, coordinate DYHS events, and promote health initiatives via local channels.
- Other duties as directed, matching your kills to promote preventative health for mob.
Who We're Looking For
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent with genuine care for mob and holistic preventative health.
- Confident in public speaking and group presentations to engage communities effectively.
- Post-school qualification in communications, health, community engagement (or equivalent relevant experience).
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, design tools (Canva, Photoshop) and social platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn).
Appointment Pre-Requisites
- Successful Criminal Record Screening Clearance
- Valid Working with Children Check
- Current Western Australian C or C-A Class Driver's License or other specialised license class.
- Successful Pre-Employment Health Assessment
