Grid-Link

Melbourne

At Grid-Link, we’re all about making the energy transition actually happen, not just talking about it.

We’re a specialist engineering consultancy that specialises in delivering comprehensive solutions for integrating energy assets into the grid. Our sweet spot is combining deep technical expertise in power systems, modelling and compliance with real, hands-on experience in Design, Grid Connection, HV testing, commissioning, and project delivery.

In short, we help get energy projects connected, energised, and moving faster and with less risk.

Our goal is simple: enable a more sustainable, carbon-free energy future.

About the opportunity

This is a senior consulting role with genuine technical authority. You'll provide expert input across the full project lifecycle, lead complex technical assessments, and act as a trusted advisor to clients, developers, OEMs, EPCs, and network service providers. Alongside the delivery work, you'll contribute to business development and mentor the next generation of engineers coming through the team.

The role is primarily based across Melbourne and Brisbane, with travel to project sites, client offices, and industry conferences as required.

What you'll be doing

- Provide expert electrical engineering input across EHV/HV substations, wind, solar, and BESS projects

- Lead complex electrical studies including cable sizing, arc flash, earthing, insulation coordination, load flow, fault levels, and more

- Act as technical authority and reviewer for designs, specifications, calculations, and reports

- Support concept development, option studies, feasibility assessments, and due diligence

- Lead and participate in technical workshops, design reviews, and regulatory discussions

- Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, NER, NSP requirements, and project-specific specifications

- Support proposals, technical inputs, and client presentations as part of business development

- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers

What you'll bring

Essential:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)

- Chartered Qualified Engineer (CPEng)

- RPEQ and/or RPEV (or eligibility to obtain)

- 15+ years of experience in the power and renewable energy sector

- Proven consulting background with exposure to major infrastructure and utility clients

- Demonstrated experience on large EHV substation and utility-scale renewable projects in Australia

- Strong knowledge of the NEM, NSP practices, and Australian regulatory frameworks

- High-quality technical writing, reporting, and client-facing communication skills

Valued:

- Consulting mindset with the ability to balance technical depth, commercial awareness, and delivery timeframes

- Proactive, collaborative, and well-organised approach to project work

Why Grid-Link?

You’ll work with people who really know their stuff and are happy to share it

- Projects are genuinely interesting, not cookie-cutter

- You’ll get exposure across the full project lifecycle, not just one slice

- A culture that values balance, not burnout

- Support for Engineers Australia membership

- Health and social initiatives

- Melbourne and Brisbane CBD office

- Competitive salary

If you enjoy solving real engineering problems, want to work on projects that actually matter, and like the idea of being involved from early design through to energisation, this is a pretty good place to do it.
