Job Title: Commercial Pricing & Insight Analyst
- Department: Revenue Management Project Team
- Reports To: Senior Data Scientist / Lead Project Analyst
- Location: Sydney, NSW (Hybrid)
Position Purpose
The Commercial Pricing & Insight Analyst plays a key role in FMCG Analytics Optimal Pack / Price Architecture and Revenue Management Strategy projects
We are looking for 2 high calibre individuals to join our Revenue Management consultancy team based in Sydney working with Tier 1 FMCG manufacturers on local and global strategy projects
Candidates must have Advanced Excel skills with an ability to write VBA macros, build dynamic calculators and streamline commercial reporting workflows to optimise FMCG profit margins for client. Additionally, demonstrated PostgreSQL and python capability would be an advantage in working with our data science team and managing complex datasets
1. Key Responsibilities
Financial Modelling & Workflow Automation
- Automate routine tasks: Write and debug VBA macros to eliminate manual data entry, format repetitive retail data packs, and speed up reporting loops.
- Manage dynamic models: Manage existing Excel models utilizing agile arrays, precise cell referencing, and named variables for flexible scenario testing (e.g., changes in commodity costs or freight).
- Maintain model integrity: Audit existing corporate templates to fix broken references, optimise calculation speed, and ensure robust error-trapping (IFERROR, validation rules).
Commercial Analysis & Revenue Management
- Evaluate promotional ROI: Build pricing calculators to model gross-to-net revenue, tracking retailer margins and promotional spend effectiveness.
- Consolidate retail datasets: Leverage VBA to extract, transform, and merge weekly point-of-sale data (e.g.,
scan data, Aztec, Nielsen) into structured master tables.
- Inventory & volume forecasting: Support the supply chain team by modelling stock run-out dates based on historical sales velocity and upcoming promotional calendars.
2. Technical Skills & Qualifications
Advanced Excel & Programming (Mandatory Core)
- VBA & Macros: Ability to write clean, commented VBA code from scratch using variables (Dim, Integer, String), loops (For Next, Do While), and conditional logic (If...Then, Select Case).
- Dynamic Functions: Mastery of advanced arrays and spill formulas (FILTER, UNIQUE, SORT, LET, LAMBDA) alongside classic indexing (XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH).
- Managing Large Pivot Tables: Experience handling data transformation, merging queries, and setting up basic data models without crashing Excel.
Education & Experience
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Analytics, Commerce, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience level: We welcome highly capable fresh graduates who can demonstrate elite spreadsheet modelling capabilities.
- FMCG exposure: Prior exposure to consumer goods or retail metrics is a plus, but exceptional technical aptitude is our priority.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year
