Senior Professional Practice Officer

Fixed Term – 2 years

Salary range Grade 5: $106,845 - $118,057 (this range is subject to increase following current EBA negotiations)

Are you an experienced teacher looking to use your expertise to support teachers across Victoria?

At VIT, we play a vital role in protecting children and maintaining public confidence in the teaching profession.

This role is ideal for an experienced teacher who can leverage their extensive knowledge and skills to support teachers across Victoria by developing resources, providing guidance and delivering projects that supports quality teaching practice across the education sector.

About the role

As part of a dynamic team of teachers within VIT, you'll use your extensive teaching knowledge to develop practical resources, provide expert guidance, and contribute to initiatives that strengthen professional practice and support quality teaching across Victoria.

Just like teaching, no two days are the same, you could be facilitating workshops, developing guidance materials, responding to enquiries, analysing feedback or contributing to policy and strategic projects.

Key Responsibilities:





- Lead and support projects that strengthen professional practice across the teaching profession.
- Develop, deliver and evaluate resources, guidance materials and professional learning aligned to the Australian Skilled Standards for Teachers (APST)
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, all education sectors, external partners and key educational stakeholders.
- Analyze stakeholder feedback and identify opportunities for continuous improvements
- Prepare high quality reports, presentations, briefing papers and communication materials.
- Design, deliver and facilitate engaging presentations, workshops and professional learning sessions for broad range of audiences.
- Contribute to policy development and strategic initiatives that support teacher capability and skilled practice.
- Monitor project outcomes, report on progress and ensure agreed deliverables are achieved.

- Experience working within education, professional practice, policy, or a related environment.
- Strong project coordination and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build productive working relationships.
- Experience developing learning resources, presentations, guidance materials or professional documentation.

Please submit your current resume and a cover letter outlining your skills and experience against the following key selection criteria mentioned in the PD.

KSC 1 Knowledge of the teaching profession, particularly within Victorian early childhood services and/ or schools and demonstrated understanding of how the regulatory requirements of teachers are linked to the quality and accountability of the profession.

KSC 2 Successful organisation and management of projects, including working collaboratively with staff and stakeholders and developing and implementing systems and procedures to prioritise, define clear objectives, assess and monitor risk, and review and evaluate the effectiveness of the outcomes.

KSC 3 Strong capacity in written, verbal and presentation skills. The ability to present complex and complicated information for a range of internal and external stakeholders, including stakeholder presentations (face to face and online), reports and briefings as required.
