About Us
Hampr is a thriving, innovative start-up looking to revolutionise workplaces. Our team is small, vibrant and ambitious; and love tackling challenging problems that improve lives everyday.
We were recently awarded 8th in Australia's Best Workplaces in Technology 2026 List (Micro category) (see https://greatplacetowork.com.au/companies/Hampr for details).
We are looking for our first dedicated marketing leadership hire.
What you'd be doing in this role
This is a hands-on leadership role: you will set the strategic direction for marketing, personally plan and manage paid advertising campaigns, direct the Brand & Content Specialist's day-to-day execution, and hold external agency partners accountable to clear performance targets.
You'll report to the founders and lead the Marketing Coordinator. You'll sit at the table where commercial decisions get made. And you'll have the rare thing most marketers say they want: the air cover to actually go and do interesting work.
You will be the single point of accountability for marketing at Hampr, working closely with Sales and the Co-founders to ensure marketing activity translates directly into qualified pipeline and business growth - removing the need for non-marketing leaders to manage execution directly.
Key Responsibilities
1. Marketing Strategy & Planning
- Partner with the Co-Founder and Sales Manager to build and continually refine Hampr's marketing strategy, aligned to company-wide growth targets and sales OKRs
- Own the marketing plan – brand, demand, content, PR, partnerships and budget end-to-end; and report on return on investment against agreed goals
- Decide where we play and where we don’t. Set the KPI’s. Defend the budget
- Evolve brand strategy, positioning, and identity as we expand into new markets and segments
- Monitor market and competitor activity to identify new opportunities or risks to Hampr's positioning
2. Paid Media & Performance Marketing
- Hands-on execution: directly plan, launch, and optimise Hampr's paid advertising campaigns (e.g. Google Ads, ChatGPT Ads), bringing this activity fully in-house
- Own budget allocation, targeting, bidding strategy, and conversion tracking across all paid channels
- Report on core performance metrics (CTR, CAC, conversion rate, ROAS) on a regular cadence to leadership
- Make ongoing build-vs-buy recommendations on whether paid media is best run in-house, via a specialist contractor, or via an agency,
as the channel mix evolves
3. Demand Generation & Sales Alignment
- Build and optimise the inbound marketing funnel in partnership with the Sales Manager, from top-of-funnel awareness through to qualified lead handoff
- Define and agree lead quality standards (MQL/SQL criteria) jointly with the sales team, and monitor conversion at each funnel stage to identify and fix drop-off points
- Support the sales team with sales enablement assets and ongoing funnel insights
4. Agency & Vendor Management
- SEO partner oversight: manage Hampr's relationship with its retained SEO/organic growth agency, holding them accountable to agreed rankings and organic growth targets
- Regularly evaluate agency and vendor performance, and make evidence-based recommendations on whether to renew, renegotiate, or replace external partnerships
5. Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Direct the Brand & Content Specialist: set clear priorities, sprint plans, and quality standards for content, brand, and social execution, providing day-to-day direction and coaching so Co-founders no longer need to manage marketing execution directly
- Act as the single point of prioritisation for marketing requests from other departments (Product, Partnerships, Events, and Growth), protecting the content function's capacity and ensuring requests are triaged against strategic priorities
- Partnerships: own the process and deadlines for securing timely supplier content ahead of key marketing moments (seasonal campaigns, newsletters), resolving the recurring late-content bottleneck
- Product: partner on messaging and positioning for new features and platform updates
6. Brand Oversight
- Ensure all content, campaigns, and creative produced by the team remain consistent with Hampr's brand strategy and positioning
- Provide strategic direction and final sign-off on major brand and content initiatives
7. Reporting & Board Communication
- Build and maintain marketing dashboards covering paid media, funnel, and content performance
- Prepare marketing performance updates for board and leadership reporting, including relevant OKR tracking
- Bring data-driven recommendations on where to increase investment, reallocate, or cut spend
8. Execute fast with AI in the loop
- We are unapologetically pro-AI. If it can be done faster and better with Claude, ChatGPT, Midjourney, Descript, Make.com, Zapier, or the next thing that drops next month - you'll be using it
- We want someone who treats AI like a junior team of 20, not a novelty. Prompt libraries, content repurposing engines, automated briefs, AI-edited video, first drafts in 10 minutes not 10 days
- The goal isn't cheap output - it's leverage. You get to make better work, faster, than a team 3x your size at a traditional agency
- Yes, this JD has been co-written with AI
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years' marketing experience, ideally within B2B, marketplace, or SaaS businesses
- Proven hands-on experience running paid media campaigns with real budget accountability
- Experience managing or directing external marketing agencies
- Experience leading, directing, or mentoring at least one direct report
- Comfortable operating without existing marketing infrastructure - this is a build-it-yourself role
- Data-literate: comfortable in Google Analytics, ad platform dashboards, and building simple performance reporting
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally across sales, product, and partnerships - and to operate effectively reporting into a Sales Manager rather than a marketing leader
- You're genuinely AI-fluent. Not "I've used ChatGPT a few times" - more "I've rebuilt my workflow around it and can show me how." You know the difference between a good prompt and a bad one, and you've got a strong opinion on where AI helps and where it absolutely doesn't
What we offer
- Genuine ownership of the entire marketing function at a profitable, rapid-growing Australian B2B Marketplace
- Direct line to the founders - decisions get made in hours, not weeks
- Budget to hire, to test, to ship, and to fail intelligently
- Hybrid working, and a team that ships
- A front-row seat - and a hand on the wheel
- Unlimited In-office snacks and drinks
- Weekly and monthly themed team lunches
