Our client is a multi-generational family owned farming business seeking a reliable, experienced, and motivated Senior Livestock Worker to join its large livestock operation (breeding program and feedlot operation). This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who takes pride in animal welfare, team development, and achieving high standards in day-to-day farm operations.

About the Role

As a Senior Livestock Worker, you will play a key leadership role in the daily management of the livestock. You will ideally have your own working dogs. You will report directly to the Livestock Manager and be responsible for supervising and mentoring a Junior Livestock Worker. This position is ideal for an experienced stockperson looking to take the next step in their career with increased responsibility and leadership opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and supervise the daily care, feeding, health monitoring, and welfare of livestock
- Provide on-the-job training, guidance, and performance feedback to the Junior Livestock Worker
- Assist with livestock handling, weighing, drafting, tagging, vaccination, and treatment programs




- Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting issues promptly to the Livestock Manager
- Support breeding programs, calving/lambing, and weaning processes
- Maintain accurate records of livestock movements, treatments, and production data
- Ensure all work complies with animal welfare standards, biosecurity protocols, and farm safety procedures
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment relevant to livestock operations
- Assist with pasture management, feeding systems, and general farm maintenance as required

Requirements

- Minimum 5 years’ proven experience working with livestock (cattle, sheep, or mixed livestock preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior team members
- Needs to have own working dogs
- Strong knowledge of animal husbandry, health, and welfare practices
- Physically fit with the ability to perform manual tasks in all weather conditions
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented
- Current driver’s license (and preferably a forklift or tractor ticket)
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Certificate III in Agriculture/Livestock Production or equivalent) highly regarded
- Right to work in Australia. All other applicants will not be replied to.

Pay: $90,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
