About the Role

This is not a standard clinic-only locum. The role combines bread-and-butter GP sessions across local rural clinics with medical oversight of a 38-bed residential aged care facility providing dementia, respite and palliative care.

Residents are generally stable and the overall patient profile is low acuity, so after-hours call-ins, acute transfers and the need to manage unstable patients are uncommon. There are no general medical inpatients and no emergency department responsibility.





The role offers greater clinical variety than a standard GP locum, without the pressure of working in a busy rural ED. ED experience is not required.

About the Location

Herberton is a small historic town in the southern Atherton Tablelands, best known for its preserved mining-era character and the Historic Village Herberton.

It offers the quiet of a country town without being isolated, with Atherton only around 20 minutes away. Crater lakes, waterfalls, rainforest walks and swimming holes are scattered across the surrounding Tablelands, making it an excellent base for exploring the region during a short winter locum.
