About the Business

Rota Moulding WA is an established Western Australian manufacturer of rotationally moulded plastic tanks and industrial products. Under new ownership, the business is investing in its people, production systems and manufacturing capability at its Midvale facility.

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Factory Trimmer / Plastic Fabricator to take moulded products through the final stages of production and prepare them for the customer. The work includes measuring and marking out, trimming, drilling, routing, fitting components, assembly, custom modifications and final quality checks.

The role would suit someone from plastics, fibreglass, composites, caravan or boat building. It is also a strong fit for a carpenter, joiner, cabinet maker or shopfitter with accurate measurement, tool use, fitting and finishing skills. This is not a traditional carpentry role; the value is in the transferable craftsmanship and practical problem-solving ability.

Key Responsibilities

Trimming, fabrication and assembly

• Measure and mark out products using drawings, templates and work instructions

• Trim, cut, drill, route and finish polyethylene products accurately

• Use hand tools, drills, routers, grinders, jigs and workshop equipment safely

• Fit lids, outlets, brackets, hardware and other components

• Assemble and customise products to customer specifications

• Complete minor repairs, rework or fabrication tasks where trained

• Inspect finished products and ensure they meet quality requirements

Production support

• Assist with mould preparation and other production tasks when required

• Move, pack and prepare materials and completed products safely

• Keep tools,

equipment and work areas clean and organised

About You

• Strong practical skills and confidence using hand and power tools

• Accurate measuring, marking out, drilling, fitting and finishing skills

• An eye for detail and pride in producing neat, consistent work

• Ability to follow drawings, templates, instructions and quality standards

• Practical problem-solving ability and mechanical aptitude

• Reliable, punctual and comfortable working in a small production team

• Willing to learn our products, materials and manufacturing processes

Physical requirements

The role involves regular manual handling, standing for extended periods and working safely around machinery, tools and large products.

Experience That Would Be Advantageous

We are particularly interested in applicants from one or more of these backgrounds:

• Plastics manufacturing, rotational moulding or plastic fabrication

• Carpentry, joinery, cabinet making or shopfitting

• Caravan, trailer, vehicle or boat building and fit-out

• Fibreglass, composites, fabrication or industrial assembly

• Product trimming, finishing, drilling, fitting or quality inspection

A trade qualification and forklift licence would be beneficial but are not essential.

Previous plastics experience is highly regarded; training will be provided to the right practical and reliable person.

Working Arrangement

• Permanent, full time employment

• Weekday day shift at our Midvale factory

• Overtime may be available or required depending on production needs

• Award-based conditions, superannuation and applicable overtime payments

Why Join Rota Moulding WA

• Stable role in an established WA manufacturing business

• Consistent weekday hours

• Apply trade-style skills in a different manufacturing environment

• Practical training in rotational moulding products and plastic finishing

• Varied work across trimming, fitting, customisation and assembly

How to Apply

Please submit your resume together with a short note outlining:

• Your relevant plastics, carpentry, joinery, fabrication or hands-on manufacturing experience

• The tools, machinery and materials you have worked with

• Any trade qualifications, licences and your availability to commence

Visa Sponsorship

Applicants with existing Australian working rights are encouraged to apply.

For an exceptional candidate with strong, directly relevant experience in plastics fabrication, trimming, carpentry, joinery or a comparable trade, Rota Moulding WA may consider employer-sponsored visa support.

Any sponsorship would be assessed on a case-by-case basis and remains subject to the position and candidate meeting all applicable Australian immigration, skills, experience and salary requirements.

Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening appropriate to the role.
