Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Systems/Cloud Engineers to join the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) - Digital Health team at Northern Health on a part time, fixed term basis (one-year contract).Â
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourneâs rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our six main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
About the Role:
The Systems/Cloud Engineer plays a pivotal role in designing, implementing,â¯maintaining, and optimising Northern Healthâs hybrid infrastructure estate.
This positionâ¯is responsible forâ¯ensuring the high availability, security,
and performance of bothâ¯on-premiseâ¯compute/storage and cloud-hosted platforms.Â
A primary focus of this role for the next 12 months will be supporting the transition from Health Technology Services (HTS) EMR on-premise hosting to Oracle Cloud infrastructure (OCI). Â
The Systems/Cloud Engineer will act as a key technical escalation point, ensuring that infrastructure changes cause minimal disruption to Northern Healthâs 24/7 clinical environment.â¯Â
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Assist EMR Cerner Millennium application (currently hosted at datacentre) migration into OCI.
- Design and connect directory services, identity management, and access controls via Active Directory to the vendorâs cloud platform, ensuring clean integration with core corporate platforms.â¯
- Coordinate directly with managed service partners to ensure external cloud targets and Virtual Protection Groupsâ¯maintainâ¯strict Recovery Point Objectives and Recovery Time Objectives.â¯Â
- Participate in ITIL-aligned change management practices, evaluating infrastructure changes against clinical impact statements andâ¯establishingâ¯rigid rollback workflows before execution.â¯
- Provide rapid tier-3 technical escalation support during critical service incidents,
performing root-cause analysis and coordinating with third-party vendors to remediate system faults.â¯
- Facilitate knowledge transfer, technical walkthroughs, and reverse-shadowing sessions with internal service desk and operational teams.â¯Â
