About the role
Dingle Smash Repairs is seeking a keen and dedicated Apprentice Panel Beater to join our team in Ayr, QLD 4807. This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career in the automotive trades industry, specifically in panel beating and vehicle repair. This is a full-time position that will provide you with hands-on training and mentorship from experienced professionals in a busy, professional workshop environment. As an apprentice, you will work alongside our skilled panel beaters to learn the craft of vehicle body repair, restoration, and refinishing, whilst gaining nationally recognised qualifications.
Key responsibilities
- Assisting experienced panel beaters with the removal and repair of damaged vehicle panels and body components
- Learning and practising panel beating techniques, including hammering, filing, and straightening procedures
- Preparing vehicle surfaces for painting through grinding, sanding, and priming under supervision
- Using hand and power tools safely and appropriately, following all workshop health and safety protocols
- Supporting the measurement and alignment of panels to ensure proper fitment and aesthetics
- Maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment and assisting with equipment maintenance
- Attending training sessions and courses required to achieve apprenticeship competencies and qualifications
- Assisting with vehicle inspections and documentation as required
- Developing knowledge of different vehicle types, materials, and repair techniques

- Physical fitness and the ability to perform hands-on work in a workshop environment
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude towards work
- A willingness to follow health and safety procedures and best practices at all times
- Year 10 or equivalent education as a minimum requirement
- A valid driver's licence is desirable
- Previous workshop experience is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided
