About the role

Stonehouse Mechanical Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and dedicated Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanic to join our team in Mourilyan, QLD. This is a full-time position where you will play a crucial role in maintaining, servicing, and repairing heavy commercial vehicles to the highest standards. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring our clients' fleets remain roadworthy, safe, and compliant with all regulatory requirements.

Position Requirements

- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent)

- Strong knowledge of diesel and petrol engines, transmission systems, brake systems, and electrical components specific to heavy commercial vehicles

- Experience in using diagnostic equipment, computerised systems, and workshop machinery

- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail when diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical issues

- Reliability, punctuality and a professional attitude towards work

- Understanding of workplace safety requirements, including WHS legislation and safe work practices

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced workshop environment

- Manual driver's licence (HR/HC/MC highly regarded)

- Forklift Licence (LF) highly regarded

- Refrigerant Handling Licence highly regarded, but not required

- Welding experience or certification is advantageous, but not required

Key responsibilities

- Perform comprehensive inspections and diagnostic testing on heavy commercial vehicles to identify mechanical faults and areas requiring maintenance

- Perform routine servicing tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups, and general maintenance procedures





- Repair and replace mechanical components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and electrical systems

- Conduct troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical issues, utilising diagnostic equipment and technical manuals

- Perform welding and fabrication work as required for vehicle repairs and modifications

- Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all work completed on vehicles

- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations

- Maintain a clean, secure, and organised workshop environment
